The Guardian have published a short interview with Australian actress Dichen Lachman, whose sci-fi credentials include Dollhouse, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, The 100 and most recently, Apple's widely acclaimed Severance.
Fair warning - the interview is a little bit spoilerish for Severance.
Their title is intriguing:
Severance’s Dichen Lachman on leaving Australian film and TV: ‘I didn’t see myself in that space’
Why not?
We'll be a little bit spoilerish.
“At that time in Australia, we were only filming Home and Away and maybe a couple of other ABC [period dramas], and” – she gestures to her face – “I didn’t see myself in that space.”
Ah. Right.
Her career has not suffered for leaving Australia but it is interesting to hear her say this now at a time when we're seeing more television and film content - including sci-fi - being shot here.
Season one of Severance is streaming now on Apple and it has been renewed for a second.
Interestingly we see that she also has a role in coming to cinemas on June 9, Jurassic World: Dominion.
