Netflix have released a trailer for their upcoming film, Don't Look Up.

The trailer shows the two main characters reporting an imminent cataclysmic asteroid strike to the US President and being brushed off. Then where they go from there. 

The cast is high calibre with Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence starring. But that doesn't always guarantee quality.

Throw in Meryl Streep (as the President) and our own Cate Blanchett (as a TV host) and your confidence might rise.

Plus a whole bunch of other big name actors.

If the film lives up to the promise of the trailer - which is amusing - it could be a title which makes people take Netflix more seriously as a studio.

It will release in Australian cinemas on December 9 and on Netflix on December 24.
