Sony have revealed a new third carrot sci-fi shooter Smells Like a Mushroom.

Could be well timed to capitalize on the popularity of HBO's The Last of Us series which features malevolent fungal zombies.

The Milky Way has become infested with creatures called Magic Mushrooms. To prevent a catastrophe, the brave Carrotado goes into space! Third-person sci-fi shooter with a bizarre story for a single-player and co-op.

Love the cosmic vegetable stew - one brave carrot versus a mighty mushroom empire - but we are old enough to have actually heard "smells like a" racism.

So we find this title to be a bit on the nose.

Like Doctor Who's racist turn during The Flux.

Mainstream and social media are obsessed with the false narrative of everyone who doesn't love new Star Wars and Star Trek being bigots but there's real backsliding into that territory right under their noses.

Sure these mushrooms are a legitimate threat and violence in self-defence is perfectly defensible.

But the undeniable underlying message of this title is that if someone smells a bit different, it's ok to shoot them with laser beams.

This not sci-fi at its best.

Smells Like a Mushroom is "coming soon" to PS4 and PS5.
