Nominees for the 80th Golden Globe Awards have been announced and science fiction has a small but possibly strong presence in three films.

Avatar: The Way of Water, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Everything Everywhere All at Once.

In the 67th Golden Globes, Avatar won Best Motion Picture (Drama) and James Cameron Best Director.

Both sequel and director have been nominated in the same categories.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has two nominations in Angela Basset for Best Supporting Performance in a Motion Picture (Actress) and Best Original Song, Lift Me Up.

Everything Everywhere All at Once received the second highest number of nominations this year (6) which both gives it better odds of taking home at least one award and is also a good indication of how well regarded the film is.

• Best Performance in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy, Actress) - Michelle Yeoh
• Best Supporting Performance in a Motion Picture (Actor) - Ke Hyu Quan
• Best Supporting Performance in a Motion Picture (Actress) - Jamie Lee Curtis
• Best Director - Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert
• Best Screenplay - Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert

Haven't seen it ourselves yet but have read nothing but great things.

Don't want to jinx it but science fiction could conceivably win both Best Motion Picture Awards!

In television there's less going on.

Severance is up for Best Television Series (Drama), Adam Scott for Best Performance in a Television Series (Drama, Actor) and John Turturro for Best Supporting Performance in a Television Series (Actor).

Andor's Diego Luna was nominated for Best Performance in a Television Series (Drama, Actor).

Winners will be announced on January 10.
