The latest TV series from the Monsterverse is on the way, with a teaser released for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

Beginning after the events of 2014 movie Godzilla which revealed the existence of giant primordial monsters to the world and saw San Fransisco levelled, the series is set across multiple generations as two siblings uncover their father’s involvement with the secretive Monarch organisation.

The trail leads back to the fifties and army officer Lee Shaw whose secrets now threaten Monarch and their attempts to meddle with Godzilla and the other titanic monsters. In a nice twist, 1950’s Shaw is played by Wyatt Russell and present day Shaw is played by the actor’s real-life father Kurt Russell.

This is the second TV series in the Monsterverse, a collaboration between Legendary Pictures and the studio that first brought Godzilla to screens, Toho. The next movie in the franchise Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire is due in cinemas next April.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters premieres on Apple TV+ November 17.
