Hulu have released a full trailer for their upcoming Predator prequel Prey and it's a bit odd.

We already knew that the featured a female lead and that her story included challenging gender norms.

Nothing wrong with that.

But this trailer begins with her imminently fatal failed attempt to hunt a bear.

Which would have killed her but for the intervention of the alien predator.

Then she's telling all the male hunters that they need her to protect them from that predator.

That's almost laughable.

We do see her save one male hunter from the predator so she's not useless but the rest of the trailer - and possibly the film - feels like it could be a bit of a Trojan horse.

Intentionally or not.

Prey will release on Hulu in the US on August 5 so we might expect to see it on Disney+ in Australia at around the same time.
