Snow Crash in Icelandverse
Posted By:

Don't be alarmed by the title. This is comedy, not tragedy.

Neal Stephenson, author of Snow Crash where the term metaverse was first used to describe a shared simulated reality, has tweeted a photo of himself enjoying the Icelandverse.

With the accompanying message:

Here's me testing the open source #icelandverse headset a few years ago. A simulation of the gap between the Eurasian and N. American tectonic plates. So realistic it gave me hypothermia. The most convincing XR experience I've had. Didn't have to surrender any of my personal data

Always a pleasure to meet another Icelandverse fan.

Neal also recently gave an interview to CNBC in which he revealed that the HBO adapation of Snow Crash has been cancelled. He said they passed on it June and it has reverted to Paramount.

However, he doesn't seem to think it's dead and advised people to "stay tuned".
