The Day Delivers
Posted By:

Previously second most wishlisted game on Steam behind Hogwarts Legacy and ahead of Starfield, open world zombie apocalypse multiplayer shooter The Day Before recently delayed its release from March 1 to November 10.

Cries of the game being fake abounded. We paid them no mind but skeptics now have a 10 minute gameplay trailer to chew on.

Vaporware - games supposedly in development which amount to nothing because they're a scam, mismanaged etc. - are rare but decrying that gets attention.

Perhaps to further combat those cries there's an additional 40 second short looking over the should of someone playing the game on a computer.

To head off claims of the gameplay trailer being a cinematic fabrication.

Not that we're in team vaporware but if that's the developer's intention it doesn't actually disprove those claims.

The gameplay showcases crafting, rifle modifications, running around, zombie shooting, looting and some "hacking".

Instead of an abstract minigame players are shown a numeric keypad with 4 keys worn down. The player tries combinations of those 4 keys until they arrive at the code.

Not the most innovative mini-game but it's more immersive and realistic than many hacking or lockpicking abstractions.

Which is where the appeal of this game lies. Plus multiplayer.

Zombie apocalypse games are plentiful and many include relatively limited peer-to-peer multiplayer, but The Day Before is graphically approaching realism and a fully fledged online world.

Without seemingly changing the basic and very popular formula of loot, shoot, craft, build.

We're not surprised that so many are clamouring to play it.

The Day Before is scheduled to release on November 10 on PC, Xbox X|S, and PS5.
