Showtime have released a trailer for their upcoming series The Man Who Fell to Earth.

Good news for anyone suffering from reboot fatigue. This is a continuation of the story of the 1976 David Bowie film with Bill Nighy playing that now older alien and joined by another alien played by Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Without spoiling the original film in case you haven't and would like to watch it, at its end, the alien who was on Earth looking for water to return to his drought ravaged planet transmits a message to his homeworld.

Seems like his message was received and they sent someone else.

In the trailer the Nighy's alien says:

I brought you here to finish what I started.

That adds up.

But earlier in the trailer it sounds as if Ejiofor's alien says that he was sent to find the scientist / mother.

Curious.

Also in this trailer we're offered a few glimpses of former Star Trek captain Kate Mulgrew in what appears to be a role as a government agent.

In a command role of course.

The Man Who Fell to Earth premieres on April 24 on Showtime in the US.

Elsewhere, eg. here in Australia, it will release on Paramount+ and probably on or close to that date.

The original David Bowie film is available on Binge and Foxtel Now.
