Familiar with the promotional proclivities of film studios approaching the release of blockbuster titles, we've been putting aside the Thor: Love and Thunder trailers to post together.

One of those team members was unexpected.

Gods of the universe, I come here to raise an army.

Accompanied by footage of what look like alien cities.

Though on pausing we see he says this to a crowd assembled on a coastline, wearing what appears to be Earth clothing.

So he's talking to Asgard's survivors on Earth.

The Asgardians were naively regarded as gods by primitive cultures but don't think of themselves that way.

Of course joining an army has a good chance of shortening anyone's lifespan, in the their case possibly shaving off thousands of years.

Thor is trying the old flattery game.

Thor: Love and Thunder releases in Australian cinemas on July 7.
