As we were musing over their new Amazon series The Peripheral, HBO announced the cancellation of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy's Westworld on HBO.

Some are describing the decision as a shock one, but season 4 viewership wasn't strong. Which we attribute to a weaker third season.

We would have liked to see the season 5 which was teased in the season 4 finale but viewer numbers matter and Warner Bros. is cost cutting across the board.

So we're disappointed but not shocked.

The season 4 finale isn't a terrible note on which to end the series but would qualify as unresolved by Hollywood and many viewers' standards.

Westworld's four seasons are streaming now on Binge and Foxtel.
