Callisto Content
Posted By:

In a sure sign of confidence, developers of The Callisto Protocol have listed a Digital Deluxe Edition on Steam which includes, among other things, a season pass and "story DLC" (downloadable content).

Gamers would be familiar with developers dodging the question of potential of DLC before a game's launch.

Which they do with good reason.

Promise or even hint at DLC and players may buy the game with the expectation of that content.

But if a game doesn't sell well enough that there'd be profit in creating that content, then it won't get made and some players could feel misled.

Amidst speculation that these developers are being shifty in this instance and simply carving off existing parts of the game to sell at additional cost, game director Glen Schofield clarified:

To be clear: We’re not holding anything back from the main game for the season pass. We haven’t even started work on this content yet. It's all new stuff that we’ll be working on in the new year. Fans have asked for EVEN MORE deaths, so we’re making it a priority next year.

Pre-orders and other such indicators must be strong.

Confidence and pre-launch confirmation of DLC doesn't always translate to a great game and worthwhile DLC, eg. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, but it's usually a good sign.

Their specifically labelling at least some of the DLC as "story" may be to distinguish themselves from the likes of Tina Tina's whose DLC was surprisingly lacking in this respect.

Though possibly also Gotham Knights, whose only current DLC is purely cosmetic.

The Callisto Protocol launches on December 2 on PC, Xbox One and X|S, and PlayStation 4 and 5.
