Flashy Trailer
Posted By:

Amidst the mini-cyclone of allegations laid against Ezra Miller in recent years and rampant misreporting of DC having fired him as The Flash, there has been a consistent note in Warner Bros. PR response.

The Flash film looks super good. Implied is that it's so good that it has to be seen no matter the outcry. Warner Bros. have now released its trailer.

Looks great, sure, but a good marketing team can make even a complete garbage film look good for a few minutes.

That said, the timing of this film and even the trailer is interesting.

Fantasy action roleplaying game Hogwarts Legacy (published by Warner Bros.) set in the Harry Potter universe launched last week.

Author J.K. Rowling's has expressed some extremely contentious views on gender in recent years and is widely but not universally regarded as unforgivable.

Despite calls to boycott the game because of her views, early indications are that it has been incredibly successful, eg. Steam statistics showed 783,277 players in a 24 hour span - the second highest ever on that platform.

We don't care for her views and are not Harry Potter fans but the game has many features we enjoy so we're one of those players.

It is superb and inclines us to believe the Warner Bros. hype about The Flash because this has the look of a coordinated response to cancel culture.

But pushing their point home would require The Flash to be fabulous.

Also worth noting is that it is through this film that DC will reset and restart the DC film universe.

It will set a benchmark for that new universe and unlike the character who can go back in time and have a second crack at anything, the film studio only gets one shot at this.

The Flash speeds into Australian cinemas on June 15.
