N7 Tease
Posted By:

Another year, another N7 Day celebrating roleplaying game series Mass Effect, and another small tease.

Last year was just one image and the promise of another game. This year some footage with a coded message. Later republished decoded with another image and message.

"Although, they should know by now not to underestimate human defiance!" - Liara T'Soni (Doctor, Shadow Broker and <REDACTED>).

In between there's been no new information about the game or the Amazon series possibly in development.

Other than a potential leak, later labelled an "error" by developers, where an N7 Day lithograph store description originally read:

While Shepard and the survivors are left to pick up the pieces, fans are left wondering what’s next.

Later changed to:

While the survivors are left to pick up the pieces, fans are left wondering what’s next.

For the benefit of those not familiar with the games, Shepard is the player character's name in the original series and Liara T'Soni a companion and potential love interest.

Continuity in most game series is entirely normal and unremarkable but Mass Effect 3 allowed for a range endings, depending on player performance and choices.

That's great for giving players a sense of agency but creates a tangle for potential future games.

Some of those differences are truly massive.

Their next game in the series, Andromeda, sidestepped the problem by setting its story in another galaxy and the mission for that having been initiated before the previous trilogy.

But all signs - including this latest one - point to the developers forging ahead with a continuation of the original story.
