No Man's Endurance
Posted By:

No Man's Sky have released a literally freighter sized update titled Endurance. Possibly a reference to the developer's endurance through a tumultuous launch and its aftermath.

It brings a major overhaul of building on freighters and their capabilities (eg. scanning planets from space), organic frigates, living ship upgrades, new spatial phenomena to explore and greater variation and size of asteroid fields.

As always the update is accompanied by a trailer and lengthy and detailed patch notes which include:

Assemble the potent Dream Aerial and embark on a new mission alongside the organic frigates swimming through the ocean of deep space. The creature’s song will transport you along a strange and surreal journey, forever bonding Traveller and beast…

That sounds like something which might begin a new mission?

Also teased is the next expedition called Polestar which appears to be freighter themed.

Could the Dream Aerial or Polestar also be bringing living freighters?!

That would be wild.

Among fans there is also speculation that version 4.0 could be something special. Endurance being 3.96 that means we're extremely close.

Update 2.0 was Beyond and 3.0 Origins. Both huge.

So this colossal update could be swiftly followed another of similar or greater proportion and impact.

Hello Games mention that Endurance coincides with the game's sixth anniversary (August 9) so that's when we'll be looking to the sky for Polestar and 4.0.

The Endurance update is available now on PC, Xbox and PlayStation.

No Man's Sky will also arrive on Nintendo Switch on October 7.
