Stargate Chat

Fan site Gateworld have published a video chat with Jenny Stiven of Clio Consulting about the current state of Stargate at Amazon.

Not much is clear other than Brad Wright's pilot being off the table. Amazon are very keen to make something of the franchise but there are three different plans under consideration.

We list these below in the order she spoke about them, which is also from most to least likely to happen by her estimation.

1) Start with a film, which goes to a series

Amazon have committed 1 billion to theatrical releases with plans to put out 4 films a year.

2) Start with a series

She refers to rumours of The Expanse writers working on it. Also from The Boys' production company.

Jenny says that based on what Amazon have done in the past, it's unlikely they'd cut out the existing fan base.

She references Robocop and Legally Blonde, and their plans to not throw out existing canon completely.

3) A complete reboot

Jenny regards this as unlikely but an option on the table which wouldn't necessarily be mutually exclusive with 1 and 2.

Like how DC under James Gunn is planning to bring all future productions into the same universe going forward, but with a few exceptions like the Robert Pattinson films.

If they could get a reboot into production and onto MGM+ quickly and cheaply, then it could happen.
