Super Nominations
Posted By:

Last month the Critics Choice Association showered indie sci-fi film Everything Everywhere All at Once with five wins out of fourteen nominations in their general awards.

In their Super Awards dedicated to fantasy, sci-fi, horror and action, Everything only received four nominations, tied with Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness in third place behind Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with five and The Batman with six.

We've not had an opportunity to watch Wakanda Forever yet but Multiverse of Madness was painfully bad and The Batman bored us to the point that we couldn't finish it in one sitting and can't even remember the plot.

Batman was sad and mopey.

About something.

For three hours.

Looking through the full list of nominations in film it seems like every big budget genre title was handed a nomination.

Perhaps it was.

Though television nominations are a different matter.

Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power with its Middle-Earth shattering budget only picked up two nominations - one for best series and Morfydd Clark (Galadriel) is up for best actress.

Four series tied for first place with the most nominations, also four, Evil, House of the Dragon, The Boys and What We Do in the Shadows.

Haven't seen Evil but the others are all excellent.

Any Aussies in the mix?

Though fantasy, Milly Alcock is up for best actress (young Rhaenyra Targaryen) in House of the Dragon.

Sam Reid received a best actor nomination for Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, as did his British co-lead Jacob Anderson.

Two of the other four nominations in this category went to What We Do in the Shadows' - Matt Berry (Laszlo) and Harvey Guillen (Guillermo).

Meaning half of the nominations went to vampires.

Everything Everywhere All at Once is available to stream on Binge and Prime.

The Batman is streaming on Netflix and Binge.

Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are available on Disney+.

Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire can be found on AMC+.

Winners of the Critics Choice Super Awards will be announced on March 16.
