A welcome sight in the newstream this morning is a small avalanche of articles whose titles declare Dune leading the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award nominations.
Dune received an impressive eleven nominations out of a total of twenty-five categories.
It was for nominated for Best Film and in every production category.
While it didn't net any for directing or acting, director Denis Villeneuve received a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Don't Look Up received four nominations:
- Best Film
- Leading Actor - Leonardo DiCaprio
- Original Screenplay - Adam McKay
- Original Score - Nicholas Britell
Also taking into consideration Dennis Villeneuve's directorial nomination for a Director's Guild Award, it's a good start to the year for Dune.
The BAFTA's will be awarded on March 13 which might be a busy day for Dune because the Critic's Choice Awards and Golden Reel Awards are on the same day and they've received more than a few nominations for both.
