Star Moss

Carrie-Anne Moss will join the Star Wars universe in the upcoming series The Acolyte.

Her role as Trinity in The Matrix puts her in select company for kick-arse female sci-fi leads alongside Sigourney Weaver and Linda Hamilton.

Netflix Nibbles

Netflix's PR people are too astute to waste any heavy hitters against the likes of Avatar or Wakanda Forever but don't like to completely bow out of any tussle.

So we have some characteristically mid and low range entries from them this week in Warriors of the Future and Hot Skull.

Sci-Fi Manga Takeover

According to a reddit thread detailing spoilers for chapter #1065 of best-selling pirate fantasy manga series, One Piece, it has been revealed that the setting is not an alternate fantasy world.

It's a post-apocalyptic sci-fi world. That's one way for sci-fi to beat fantasy.

Westworld Done and Dusted

As we were musing over their new Amazon series The Peripheral, HBO announced the cancellation of Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy's Westworld on HBO.

Some are describing the decision as a shock one, but season 4 viewership wasn't strong. Which we attribute to a weaker third season.

Peripheral Peripheral

Before having an opportunity to see Amazon's new The Peripheral series with our own eyes, we spied more than a few unflattering reviews in the news streams.

Instead, according to the same leaker, Amazon have engaged The Expanse writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby.

Prodigy on the Prime

Readers of our blog would probably be aware that of the current era Star Trek's, Prodigy is the only one we reckon is proper Star Trek.

In February we credited it with not retconning the Prime Directive, but on watching the first episode after its mid-season break, sadly discovered that honour was premature.

Doctor Who Viewership

For much of their history, Radio Times were owned by the BBC and unsurprisingly tend never to speak ill of Doctor Who.

When discussing the recently revealed viewing numbers for Jodie Whittaker's final episode (spoilers ahead), again they don't speak ill of that or the Chibnall era, but do throw in a few extra numbers to show that the final episode only had half as many viewers (5.3 million) as his first (10.9 million).

DC Divergence

A few weeks back, DC's Black Adam released in cinemas alongside action roleplaying game Gotham Knights. It looked like dark day for the franchise with generally unfavourable critic response to the film, and mixed but quite savage reviews for the game from several major publications. Today on Rotten Tomatoes, Black Adam sports a 40% critic and 90% viewer score. Only half a world between those.
