Netflix's Resident Evil series released on the 14th and rocketed into second position on Netflix's series chart with an impressive 72 .7 million hours viewed in its first week.

It presently has a critic 51% (average 5.9 / 10) and viewer 26% (average 1.8 / 10) score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 3.7 / 10 rating on IMDb.com.

Lightyear at Lightspeed

Pixar animated comedy Lightyear which premiered in cinemas on June 17 is coming to streaming service Disney+ at lightspeed, touching down on August 3.

Just as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which began streaming on June 22 after its May 6 cinema release.

Rolling Stone have published an article which paints a sinister picture of the social media foundations underpinning former Warner Bros. director Zack Snyder.

It's moderately explosive, detailing evidence of fake accounts and suggests that Warner Bros. suffered significant financial damage as a result.

The Stargate Rumour Mill

Typically we pay very little attention to and don't even consider commenting on rumours but in the leadup to Stargate SG-1's 25th anniversary and a potential announcement about its revival, we have and are.

Giant Freakin Robot claim that Amazon are trying to reassemble the cast of the original film for a "new project" which could mean either film or series.

Nominations for the 74th annual Emmy Awards have been announced and sci-fi is not what we'd call prominent.

Severance snagged a respectable 14 nominations and Stranger Things, 1.

Day Shift Trailer

While we weren't blown away by their inside look during Geeked Week, the trailer for Netflix's mercenary vampire hunter film Day Shift, looks good.

Perhaps not great. Some of those gags are old and / or obvious but the whole package looks like it might be fun to watch.

The Star Wars Shuffle

For a long time the question of which Star Wars film project will reach cinemas next had been up in the air but six weeks ago Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy told us it would be Taika Waititi's with a late 2023 premiere.

Now we're seeing signs which make us wonder if he too will be shuffled off the Dejarik (holochess) board following the mixed response to his Thor: Love and Thunder.

No Way Home on Binge

Spider-Man: No Way Home released last month in some other parts of the world on Netflix and they have a deal for Sony films over the next few years.

But this most recent web slinging film will arrive in Australia on Binge on July 16, along with the other Spider-Man films.
