Star Trek has released another short teaser trailer for Prodigy.

Paramount+ Australia have also released the official trailer.

It's the same as the trailer released in early September but back then details about Australian release were still unknown.

As indicated in said trailer, it will release here on October 29 on Paramount+.

Second Dune Film

Legendary has announced the go ahead for the second Dune film with an ETA of October 20, 2023.

At the cinemas only. No same-day streaming release.

Having already performed strongly overseas prior to the US premiere, ticket sale expectations were high but tempered by uncertainty because of the simultaneous release on HBO Max.

Commercial Space Stations

Plans for two commercial space stations have been unveiled recently, both expected to be in operation this decade.

Nanoracks, Voyager Space and Lockheed Martin announced that they are developing the first free-flying commercial space station called Starlab which should begin operation by 2027.

Planet Outside our Galaxy

NASA may have discovered  the first evidence of a planet outside of the the Milky Way.

In the Messier 51 (M51) Whirlpool Galaxy.

It's an exciting discovery but more data is required to confirm the planet candidate's location and the method use here may not be viable again for another 70 years because of its wide orbit.

Focusing on Dune's sandworms, this Wired piece looks at how the visual and sound effect teams tackled the gargantuan task.

In the visual department they converted their greenscreens to sandscreens so they could shoot in the desert to allow all of the beauty shots to look their most natural.

Oz Writer Receives Award

Xinhua report that Australian author Chris Winspear has received the grand prize Golden Pen in the Writers of the Future awards for his short story, The Trade.

Though he won the prize last year. Because of COVID, the event organisers combined the 2020 and 2021 awards.

The Writers of the Future contest was created by L Ron Hubbard, of Scientology fame.
