Season two of the revamped Quantum Leap continues to shake the franchise up.
Things began with an unexpected time-travel twist in the season opener that fundamentally changes the show’s storyline.
And in an upcoming episode we’ll see Ben leap into 1955 and cross paths Hannah Carson, a diner waitress he’d met in a previous episode set in 1949. While meeting the same people in different leaps isn’t unheard of – Sam leapt into the same family in two different episodes of the original series, for example - this is the first time an episode has explored the long-term effects of a leap on those it impacts.
It seems Ben has made this latest leap in order to resolve a problem he created on a previous leap, after a conversation with a younger Hannah about science.
The new Quantum Leap has a more serialised format which make this kind of storyline more feasible than the mostly self-contained episodes of the original.
The second season of Quantum Leap is screening in the US now but has yet to make it to Australia, although season one is available now on local FTA streaming app 7Plus. We’ll keep you updated.
