Picard No More

In an interview with SFX Magazine, as reported by SlashFilm, Patrick Stewart has confirmed that season 3 will be Star Trek: Picard's last.

This is possibly not surprising.

The Ark for SyFy

SyFy have ordered a new sci-fi series titled The Ark with executive producers Dean Devlin (StargateIndependence Day, The Librarians, The Outpost) and Jonathan Glassner (Stargate SG-1, Falling Skies, The Outpost).

Wasting no time at all - that's nice - it goes into production in March.

The Man Who Fell to Earth

Showtime have released a teaser for their upcoming series The Man Who Fell to Earth.

As are many teasers, it's very short, but it looks decent.

La Brea Ka Ching

The federal goverment has issued a press release detailing that season 2 of sci-fi sinkhole drama, La Brea, will pump $118 million into the Australian economy when it is filmed in Victoria.

In terms of ratings it seems to have been a big hit in the US and was renewed for a second season before the first had finished airing.

The Orbital Children

Releasing on January 28 on Netflix is their anime series, The Orbital Children.

Not sure what to make of this one from the trailer.

All of Us Are Dead Trailer

Netflix's All of Us Are Dead premieres on January 28th and they released the official trailer about a week ago.

The special effects look top-notch and it seems to have all of the typical ingredients for a zombie apocalypse.

Picard Season 2 Trailer

Paramount have released the official trailer for season 2 of Picard, just a few days after announcing its premiere date (March 3).

We would say that it looks like they're trying to revisit one of The Next Generation's high points - its eloquent and poignant time jumping finale - except for the presence of Guinan.

Doomlands is a new animated adult ozzie themed sci-fi comedy series premiering this week on Roku.

What's Roku? A streaming device and channel not available in Australia.

Upload S2 Release Date

Amazon have released a season 1 recap and season 2 release date - March 11 - for Upload.

If you're unfamiliar with it it's a comedy / drama set in the near future where people are able to upload themselves into a virtual afterlife.

Resident Alien on 9 Now

Another one for January 27 is the premiere of season 2 of sci-fi comedy Resident Alien, starring Alan Tudyk of Firefly flame, on 9 Now.

Which we're getting at the same time as everyone else. That has become the norm for streaming services, which are global, but local free-to-air channels are their own masters.
