Sony have revealed a new third carrot sci-fi shooter Smells Like a Mushroom.

Could be well timed to capitalize on the popularity of HBO's The Last of Us series which features malevolent fungal zombies.

Jodie on a Beach

Thirteenth Doctor Who actor Jodie Whittaker has landed her first post Tardis role and it's in our backyard. Or on our beaches, rather.

She has temporarily relocated down under to film the six part series One Night (not sci-fi) set against the New South Wales coastline. Filming has already commenced in the Sydney and Illawarra region.

DGA Award a Pair of Dans

Directors of Everything Everywhere All at Once Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan have won the Director's Guild of America top prize.

This follows a win for them at the Critics Choice Awards. They missed out at the Golden Globes and BAFTAs.

A Pair of BAFTAs

While Everything Everywhere All at Once was tied second for number of nominations (10) at this year's British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs), it won only Best Editing (Paul Rogers).

Science fiction's only other win came courtesy of Avatar: The Way of Water for Best Special Visual Effects (Richard Baneham, Daniel Barrett, Joe Letteri and Eric Saindon).

IGN Fan Fest

The past two weeks have been uncommonly quiet on the entertainment trailer and news fronts. We had put that down to Marvel (Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania) and Harry Potter (Hogwarts Legacy) but there was a third factor in the mix.

Folk were probably also holding back content for the IGN Fan Fest. Mostly gaming but also a dab of television and film.

Too Much Star Wars

Star Wars being a somewhat biggish franchise, they often make multiple news ripples in any given week and this is just such a one.

There's new lots of new info about Star Wars Jedi: Survivor - combat stances, lightsaber combat and puzzle rooms. - a clip for The Mandalorian season 3 and Liam Neeson (Qui-Gon Jinn) has shared his opinion that there are too many Star Wars spinoffs.

The Marvels Delayed

Without giving any reason - just a new poster - Marvel has delayed The Marvels, the film from July to November. In the US the 10th but an Australian date hasn't been announced yet.

Also only in the US at this point, Disney's Haunted Mansion film has been brought forward from August to fill the July slot.

Netflix continue to expand their mobile gaming library - available to Netflix subscribers without any of those pesky microtransactions.

Their latest addition is futuristic wild west twin stick, roguelite shooter Dust & Neon.

Entertainment giant Tencent have released a Chinese commercial starring Will Smith for their upcoming post-apocalyptic open world multiplayer survival game Undawn.

The ad is remarkable on several fronts.

Pluto Peek

Just now we spoke of another trailer tickling our B grade nerve. Netflix's "sneak peak" at upcoming anime film Pluto kicked our WTF-nerve.

We regard speaking to our computer screen as somewhat gauche but those three words erupted nonetheless.
