Anderson Cooper has tweeted a video of him interviewing William Shatner about his upcoming space flight.

Fair warning, the language gets slightly adult.

Following on from comments on the shape of the rocket, Shatner says that, "We're inseminating the space program." Plus some stuff about insertions and probing.

Sydney Film Festival

Lifehacker teasingly reports that this year's Sydney Film Festival includes a nice bonus for Sydney folk - an early screening of Dune on November 10 almost a month ahead of the rest of the country.

Then details that single adults tickets have already sold out. Nice for those who managed to nab them.

Concession, youth and group tickets are still available.

And there other films at the festival.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the long dispute over use of Seussian language in a Star-Trek Dr. Seuss mash up has been resolved by settlement.

That settlement being permanent injunction on the work entitled Oh, the Places You’ll Boldly Go! in exchange for abandonment of pursuit of financial damages.

Russian Film Crew on ISS

SpacePolicyOnline reports that Russian actress Yulia Peresild and film director Klim Shipenko have reached the ISS where they will shoot The Challenge.

The film's premise is that a Russian cosmonaut loses consciousness in flight and requires immediate surgery.

Title seems accurate.

Lost Away - New Sci-Fi Sim

Indie developer S2 Games has announced a new sci-fi survival sim with a YouTube trailer, Lost Away.

Visually it seems to draw inspiration from Avatar. The creature featured in the trailer sports Avatar like wavy tentacles, there's lots of night-time bioluminescence and a smattering of floating rocks.

SpaceX Civs Receive Wings

Space.com report that the civilian crew of the September SpaceX flight aboard Dragon have been awarded special company flight wings.

These are distinct from official Federal Aviation Authority wings.

The wings are a stylized dragon and have each crew member's name, call sign and mission role inscribed on the back.

NASA Selects Sim Crew

NASA recently selected four volunteers for participation in a simulated trip to the Mars moon Phobos.

Lauren Cornell, Monique Garcia, Christopher Roberts, and Madelyne Willis.

The simulation has already commenced (October 1) and will run for 45 days ending on November 15.

It is one of a series of 15 missions being conducted by NASA's Human Research Program to help prepare people for long duration space missions.
