This week in Australia, Mortal Kombat, which released in cinemas last year, joined Netflix.
It's fantasy / sci-fi - there's a fellow with cybernetic arms in the trailer - and regarded as a bit of a bomb with critics but interestingly even in the midst of the COVID pandemic managed to be HBO's most successful film launch up to that point.
Rotten Tomatoes have published their 2021 Golden Tomato Awards - which are awarded based on critic review scores - and sci-fi fared moderately well at the winner level but less so in ranked listings of runners up, except for Best New Series and Best Animated series.
Interestingly RT also give the public the opportunity to vote for their favourites which will be announced on January 31.
About a week ago, Eternals became available on Disney+.
We haven't had the opportunity to watch it in full yet but have seen the first half hour and it doesn't impress. Not that our expectations were high based on its low critic scores at cinema release, which have dropped even further since then from 71% to 48%.

Via Twitter, Bob Morley known for his role as Bellamy in The 100 and before that locally in both Home and Away and Neighbours, has announced his role in a new indie sci-fi film.
Joining him will be his The 100 partner and also real life wife, Eliza Taylor.
